- Who: Mel, Susan and Alan Salmanowitz, Sally, Rachel Kelly (!!!), Irene and Patty
- Where: P Street
- What: Grilled Portabella and Asparagus (with polenta and greens), lots of diet coke
We ended up at Logan Tavern as an afterthought. Melissa’s mom (who you may remember) and dad ended up coming to DC at the very last minute to check out the condo that Mel was looking to buy. As sometimes happens with a large group involving multiple parents, heat, and intense hunger, the immediate need for food trumped all else—and off we went to the first place that would seat a group of 8 during prime brunch time. There is no fighting the tide of the Salmanowitz family.
The critical thing that happened that morning, more than our sub-par experience at Logan, was the viewing of Mel’s [maybe] condo that occurred prior. Mel’s potential new place is a cute little one bedroom in Logan Circle with tons of character, lots of light, nice hardwood floors, and great potential to be a fabulous new home. All this was slightly masked, however, by the belongings of the current tenant, who has apparently been living in this bachelor pad for 2+ decades. Short story, he’d amassed a lot of really weird stuff.
Please identify the following objects in the photos below:
- a dry cleaners-esque clothes rack
- cleaning supplies in arms reach of anyone sleeping in the bed
- photo from a Jewish wedding (circa approx 1972)
- trash can blocking access to dishwasher, sink and cabinets
- framed portrait of a saudi prince
- black trash bag covering kitchen window, most likely to prevent being seen naked by neighbors
- photo of a family rafting trip
- big container of dog biscuits—no other signs of dog ownership
- framed photo of a horse
- child sized rocking chair filled with ancient stuffed animals

Note: In the end, this apartment was not meant to be for Mel and she moved on to greener pastures. The next one will have more paintings of horses or Saudi princes.
